Mango IRC - Chat client App Reviews

need an irc bouncer feature

nice and simple irc client. Now, it would be great to have a "bouncer", to use it with an iPhone and still following discussion.

Crashed and unable to use on Retina display

This software is not build for retina display. Unable to create a single server. Crashed everytime I want to close it. Don’t buy it !!!

DON’T BUY IT

This applications doesn’t work, some panels are out of the screen, so you can’t create any serveur etc.

Good looking, but not that functional

It looks pretty, but there is no configuration at all… I could not make it authenticate correctly on freenode, I had to do it by my self, it kept missing my password. I also missed short cuts for moving between tabs (CMD+{ and CMD+}, apples default, do not work).

Weird non-native UI and missing support for SSL

Didnt convince me since the UI looks more like a port from iOS (e.g. no standard menu items) and it doesnt support connecting to a server via SSL.

Great app

This is a simple, easy to use IRC chat client. Once I had it downloaded and installed I was almost instantly chatting on all my networks. Have had a few glitches with the app shutting down randomly but nothing I am conserned or bothered about, very rare and could be an issue with my chat server or network. Overall great app, extremely simple and easy to use. Grab this if you are unsure or on the fence and for those who have downloaded please rate and or review, it really is a great app.

Delicious!

This app is fun to use, the user interface is simple and usefull, Ive been waiting for an IRC client that would feel great to use and it is finally there. This app is worth every pennies and I would recommend it to anyone! Awesome!

No font control

This app works ok but there is no way to customize the font.

Okay....

Well, this is okay.... However, it is an extremely light IRC client. Which, of course, matches its price tag. I certianly wouldnt recommend it for anyone new to IRC (a little too simple, ironically, which means the user needs to know what theyre doing -- where a slightly better client would take care of some of the setup pieces for you).

I hate it

I really do have this application. Its way too features less. When choosing/connecting to a server on Lion, the app closes. It is really hard to use it. I cant believe I paid for this app. Go elsewhere for a decent IRC client.

Crashes Constantly

Almost entirely useless, with constant crashes on Lion. SSL support is buggy. Complete lack of intelligent error messages makes it almost useless if there is even the slightest issue. Floods syslog with "12-03-29 12:41:23.536 AM [0x0-0x605605].sk.mediaware.mac.iirc: 00:41:13 [Timers] Fired invalid async timer!".

It doesnt work

it is not compaitable with mountioun lion. it does not have ready servers installed and does not worth a penny at all.

Unusable on retina macbook pro

I’ve only seen bottom left corner of very very very oversized login pane, so could not even use the app once.

In anger and confusion

Purchased it and removed immediately. Really unusable thing without shortcuts (even system like Hide all windows ot Quit). You even unable to use /j instead of /join, and you still must use # in channel names. So, /join #name is the only way to join a channel. I wish Apple would create some refund system to return money for such unfinished apps. Cheers.

Not usable

It has a bug in the config screen that does not allow you to use the app. The “server” configuration window is bigger than the application window so many of the input fields are not even visible.

NO PLACE TO TYPE YOUR SERVER PASS

This is the worst IRC “Client” Ever. I paid to get satisfied! now I want my money back. Read the title again please.

Best so far, but could beat all forever!

I have been looking for a good OSX IRC client for the Mac. Pretty much everything I found is no longer supported, with support ending around 2006. I like X-chat, but only being able to run it via X kinda stinks. This app looks like the cleanest of all the ones I looked at, both in and out of the Mac App Store. Its really clean and modern, yet still has that console style. It did however crash when I tried to join a server where the username was already taken. But with support, and updates, I feel this app has great potential.

Like the Feel, Dislike the Bugs

Honestly, Ive been using it for part of a day and the bugs are irriating. I close my lid with Mango open and upon return, Mac OS X / The Dock appear to not recognize that Mango is running and Im unable to Quit through the menu or with Command-Q. I am unable to use the nickname auto-completion. Tab does not work and the X does not actually close the dialog. I like it, but it needs some polishing. Good luck on it!

Overall the quality of this app is awesome.

Doesnt seem to support SSL, and If i had a hotkey for switching between rooms that would be fantastic. Also, you cant copy multiple lines which is kind of frustrating when someone says something funny and you want to compare. Id give it 4 stars if it had that. 5 if it supported SSL

Could use some work

I like the look and feel of this app overall, but after using it for a couple of days there are a few things that jump out at me. 1. Not being able to select text in the channel. 2. Not having tab autocompletion. 3. Not being able to resize the two columns 4. No preferences or options to speak of. If these minor issues were addressed this app would be perfect for me. Overall it feels like an iOS app that was ported to OSX.
